The Death of Pistol Pete Maravich

January 5, 1988 – Peter “Pistol Pete” Press Maravich was an American professional basketball player. Born and raised in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, Maravich starred in college at Louisiana State University (LSU) and played for three NBA teams until injuries forced his retirement in 1980. Maravich dies of a heart attack while playing in a pickup three-on-three game in a California gym. He is 40 years old.
