born January 23, 1979 – Larry Darnell Hughes is an American professional basketball player. He is a 6 ft 5 in (1.96 m) and 185 lb (84 kg) shooting guard. Hughes attended Saint Louis University and was the eighth pick in the 1998 NBA Draft, selected by the Philadelphia 76ers.

Grizz And Cavs Make Trade

The Memphis Grizzlies have agreed to a multiplayer trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Grizzlies would send big man Marreese Speights, guard Wayne Ellington and guard Josh Selby to the Cavs for big man Jon Leuer. Cleveland would also receive a future first-round draft pick in the deal.

Sacramento Kings May Be Sold

The Maloof family that owns the Sacramento Kings has reached a purchase agreement to sell a 65 percent controlling interest in the franchise to a Seattle group led by Chris Hansen and Steve Ballmer.

NBA teams were formally notified Sunday night that the Kings have been valued at $525 million and that the parties have executed a purchase agreement, which still requires league approval.

Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson said last week he had received permission from NBA Commissioner David Stern to present a counteroffer to league owners from buyers who would keep the Kings in Sacramento.

Alvin Gentry Part Ways With Suns

The Phoenix Suns and coach Alvin Gentry mutually parted ways after five-plus seasons on Friday. Gentry was in the final year of his contract. The team said an interim coach from within the organization is expected to be named in the next 24 to 48 hours.

January 17, 1982 – Dwyane Tyrone Wade, Jr. nicknamed Flash or D-Wade, is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for the Miami Heat of the NBA. Named the 2006 Sportsman of the Year by Sports Illustrated, Wade has established himself as one of the most well-known and popular players in the league. In his third season, Wade helped lead the Miami Heat to their first NBA championship in franchise history. He was named the 2006 NBA Finals MVP as he helped lead the Heat to a 4–2 series win over the Dallas Mavericks. At the 2008 Summer Olympics, Wade led the United States Men’s Basketball team, commonly known as the “Redeem Team”, in scoring, as they captured gold medal honors in Beijing, China. In the 2008–09 season, Wade led the league in scoring and earned his first NBA scoring title. He was part of Miami’s second championship win in the 2012 NBA Finals, when Miami defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder.

San Antonio Spurs Are Being Sued

The San Antonio Spurs are being sued by a lawyer who is alleging the team violated the state’s deceptive and fair trade practices law. Larry McGuinness filed a class-action suit in Miami-Dade County, stating Spurs coach Gregg Popovich “intentionally and surreptitiously” sent their best players home without the knowledge of the league, the team and the fans attending the Nov. 29 game against the Miami Heat. McGuinness contends that he, as well as other fans, “suffered economic damages” as a result of paying a premium price for a ticket that shouldn’t cost more.
