An hour and a half after it was sent, Kobe Bryant’s maiden tweet has received more than 17,000 retweets and 4,100 favorites, and his @kobebryant account has well over 140,000 followers. (Predictably and perfectly, he is not following anyone.) To the surprise of nobody, the legendary Los Angeles Lakers guard is pretty popular on Twitter.


August 27,1984 – David Michael Bentley is an English footballer who plays for Tottenham Hotspur as a winger. Bentley produced strong performances for his new club. He spent time on loan with Birmingham City and West Ham United F.C. in 2011.


August 27, 1970 – James Howard “Jim” Thome is an American professional baseball player. Jim Thome is the designated hitter for the Baltimore Orioles and one of the top home run hitters in the history of baseball. A five-time All-Star, Thome has also played for the Cleveland Indians, Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers and Minnesota Twins since debuting in 1991. Thome is currently seventh on the all-time MLB home run list with 611.


August 27, 1987 – Darren McFadden is an American football running back who currently plays for the Oakland Raiders of the National Football LeagueDarren. McFadden is an outstanding running back for the Oakland Raiders. McFadden was selected by the Raiders with the fourth-overall pick of the 2008 NFL Draft. He has rushed for 2,627 yards and 16 touchdowns over his four NFL seasons. McFadden was a consensus All-American in 2006 and 2007, his final two seasons at the University of Arkansas.


August 27,1975 – Jonathan William Moseley, better known as Jonny Moseley, is the first Puerto Rican to become a member of the U.S. Ski Team. American Jonny Moseley won the gold medal in the moguls skiing event at the 1998 Winter Olympics held in Nagano, Japan. Later that year, Moseley secured the 1998 World Cup mogul title. He has since competed and won at the X-Games.
